Troy Peerless LoftsThis former commercial laundry building was constructed in 1929 and is listed on The National Register of Historic Places. Located in the heart of Midtown Atlanta, the existing industrial structure was converted into 32 loft style, residential condominiums. The units’ interiors capitalize on the remnants of decades of layered material finishes to retain the character of a true urban loft. Considerable measures were taken to preserve the exterior while emphasizing the original entries with the addition of minimalist canopy structures. An unsightly loading dock located along the building’s side was transformed into a terraced garden. All work was designed and performed in compliance with the Atlanta Urban Design Commission and the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Standards for the Rehabilitation of Historic Properties. *Winner of the 2009 Atlanta Urban Design Commission Award of Excellence. |
